I'm actually glad I added the ears. Their purpose was to give the pot a little height, and though it only added like...a centimeter, I'm glad I did it! I was skeptical at first but i think it looks good!
Deadlines. everywhereeeeeee. Welllll my coil pot is finally done. It came out a bit longer than I thought, but I'm happy with it! I can't wait to get it glazed :) Soo I always seem to forget that its Friday on fridays. And then I remember that it's friday, and I realize I didn't do my SAT math homework, so i freak out, and then do it last minute. Then the extent of my outrageously weak math skills is my focus until 6, and after that I'm occupied with the thoughts of getting to watch Modern family and The Vampire Diaries! And the fact that we have no school for the next two days! ...Aaannd I forget all about blogging for ceramics. Hopefully I can catch up. We started our coil pots, and I've decided to make an owl! The idea's a bit mainstream, but hey, I like things that look like owls. (Not so much owls themselves though...) Sorry my owl coil pot's not done yet.....again! I think i'm getting better and a little bit quicker with the coil making though....I've always been a late bloomer! Ohhh the Christmas spirit is in the air and exams and AP Drawing continues to prevent us from enjoying it as much as we could. And then winter break means SATs. Oh, junior year. PS Sorry I completely forgot about the tray of sugar Ms. Lopez! I was rushing for the apparently nonexistent activity bus AND needed to get my big black art folder and completely forgot. I'll pick it up ASAP! what to blog about since I'm so behind. And i thought i was keeping up! my owl pots going fine so far, but it's dur this Friday so I probably need to speed up a little. Please stop crashing on me. Sincerely, Jiwon. I'd just written a good, lengthy (but not too lengthy) post when this thing crashes! Sigh. Life goes on. It's okay. I'm drinking bubble tea, which makes it a little better. Well...I'm liking the gray clay! And the fact that we an recycle it. I've accidentally stepped on those large slaps of clay that are sometimes out drying... HAHA sorry about that! Peeve: When you reach into a bag of clay, and instead of a slab you find a bunch of slightly dry, chunks of clay people put in there! Which really sucks, because I've noticed that it's hard to make coils with clay unless its really soft. Actually, it's just hard to make coils. Ha! Again, it's harder than it seemed! And I'm probably changing the glaze I'm using for my owl from Blue...Rutile(?) to Iron...something. After glazing and getting 5 of 6 fired, the white glaze and ivory beige didn't stay on too well. I'm now painting over them with acrylic...hopefully they'll look better:( the week is flying by. But I haven't exactly been having a good time so...? Hmm. I'm working on my second pinch pot but I gotsta speed uppppp! my pot is definitely going to dry up over Chusok--hopefully I can work with it. I'm working on the one I plan on making wire legs with:) Okay so this application is crashing on me! I got them all fired, and the blue one is gonna have stars on them. Not what I planned at first, but I just had to roll with what I had. Volleyball's ending this week so I'll have more time to come in and work:) |
